Villa del Sol d’Oro is a gorgeous wedding venue in Sierra Madre, California, that we love shooting at. It’s a historical venue owned by a prominent Los Angeles physician Dr. Walter Jarvis Barlow. In 1924 Dr. Barlow and his wife created their vision of an Italian villa right here in California. Today the property is used for classes, activities, and events, not much like it was back in the 1920s and 1930s when The Barlows owned the house.
The theme for their wedding was a French Tea Party. As cinematographers, it was pure joy to be able to document Lively and Michael’s perfect day.
The Details
Because the theme was a French tea party, we knew the details would be impeccable, with gorgeous blush and ivories detailed throughout the day. Orange County Special Events created a lush, modern yet French-style design for their wedding day.
Lively wore a stunning strapless gown with detachable all-over lace sleeves and a cathedral-length veil paired with a thick headband. The bridesmaid’s gowns were a mauve/blush color, and Lively’s bridesmen wore a stunning mauve-colored suit. The groomsmen wore light blue suits, and Michael wore a a classic black tux.
The flowers were mixed with different colored pinks, dark pinks, mauves, and whites all throughout the ceremony and reception. There were so many flowers! Enchanted Garden Floral Design outdid themselves! The tables were farmhouse-style with cane back chairs, decorated with vintage purple glassware and gold accents. This wedding was a true french tea party!
The Reception
The reception was intimate but so much fun! Their family and friends danced and laughed all night long. Lively surprised Michael with a choreographed dance at the reception with two of her good friends; it was amazing!
Lively and Michaels’s first dance was also choreographed and was super romantic! Meaningful speeches were said, the cake was cut, and core memories were made by all who attended their wedding.
Our Favorites
Since every wedding is different, we love different about each wedding! Our favorite parts during Lively and Michales wedding were that they said their vows, just the two of them, directly after their first look; doing this is such an intimate moment between you and your partner, and you can keep something personal on your wedding day. We also adored the flowers, and Lively’s dress was something out of a fairy tale.
